emacs v22.1.1

Emacs had a new release v22.1.1. downloaded it and tried it, I liked it. I have been using emacs for some time and every time I use it I like it more. I have dabbled with several Linux boxes and I have always found vi to be strange and to some extent the key mappings of vi not intuitive. I don't want to start emacs vs Vim war here. It is my choice and I decided to choose emacs, may be one day I will learn emacs-lisp and program my editor.

Now to the itchy part, for some reason xpm4.dll was not bundled with M$-Windows version and had to install it manually. Emacs has several plug-ins and I would recommend the following plug-ins if you are a developer
  • ECB - Emacs Code Browser
  • Color theme
  • Highlight current line
  • Speedbar
The screenshot shows emacs with ECB, highlight current line and color-theme-pok-wog (white on gray).

emacswiki is good web site if you are new to emacs and wishing to learn more about emacs
